You have a lot of ground to cover when attending conferences—sessions and workshops to attend, exhibitors to visit, people to see. On top of that, you want to promote your own research. Your research deserves attention, but you also want the right kind of attention.
The Center for Industry Research Collaboration wants to help you make the most of your trip to San Diego.
“Our goal in attending the Orthopaedic Research Society Annual Meeting is to connect you with industry members who are interested in your line of work,” says Heather Ramsay, associate director of alliance management for the Center.
Here are three ways we can help you get the most out of the Orthopaedic Research Society Annual Meeting:
1. Direct industry representatives to your presentation or poster
Are you presenting a poster or abstract at the Orthopaedic Research Society Annual Meeting? We want to drive more traffic to your posters and scientific sessions.
“As exhibitors, we can highlight the posters and sessions of our Wake Forest researchers by directing industry representatives and other attendees to them,” says Chris Jerome, associate vice president of the Center for Industry Research Collaboration.
In addition to directing traffic through the booth, we can also share the time and place of your presentations with our individual contacts. As we interact with relevant industry members, we’ll send them in your direction.
2. Set up meetings—the right meetings—with industry interested in your research
Before and during your conferences, Wake Forest Innovations can reach out to the vendors and companies that will be in attendance, targeting businesses specifically interested in your work.
“We know conferences are busy times for researchers. We can help you make the most of your time by setting up industry meetings,” says Ramsay. “The more we know about your research beforehand, the more specific we can be in targeting industry sponsors for potential meetings.”
Contact us before the conference and let us know what you’re working on. We’ll do our homework to find potential industry sponsor matches.
3. Be a resource
“We attend conferences to be a resource for our researchers,” says Terry Ladd, director of business development for the Center for Industry Research Collaboration.
The Center will have a booth—<#310>—set up in the exhibit hall during the conference. You can use our booth as a meeting point with potential industry partners during the course of the conference. We’ll have promotional materials there to distribute to industry sponsors.
If you connect with any industry sponsors at the conference, we can be a resource for you. We’ll meet with interested sponsors and give them details about sponsored research at Wake Forest Baptist. We can collect their contact information and even organize meetings with potential industry sponsors.
“At the conference, we can help field questions from industry and facilitate interactions between you and industry contacts,” says Jerome.
