The HEART Pathway, a digital app that helps health care providers more effectively assess which patients presenting with chest pain can be safely discharged, was developed by Wake Forest School of Medicine faculty Simon Mahler, M.D., associate professor of emergency medicine and Iltifat Husain, M.D., assistant professor of emergency medicine. The technology was licensed by Wake Forest Innovations last year into a new spin-out company, Impathiq. Impathiq is one of 13 companies that will showcase from the main stage at CED Tech Venture Conference on Sep. 19.
“Our mission at Impathiq is to create electronic medical record (EMR)-integrated clinical decision support solutions that empower hospitals to improve health outcomes and reduce unnecessary health care spending,” said Vinay Tannan, Ph.D., Impathiq chief operating officer. “To be selected as a showcase company at the CED Tech Venture Conference is an incredible opportunity to share our story and grow our professional network.”
COMPASS-CP, an EMR-integrated digital application for medical conditions like stroke, allows health care providers to generate patient-centered care plans based on social and functional determinants of the individual’s health at the point of care.
Developed by lead inventor Pamela W. Duncan, Ph.D., and a team of researchers in Wake Forest Baptist Medical Center’s neurology department, COMPASS-CP was selected for the CED Tech Venture Conference Demo Room for one-on-one networking and in-person display.
The CED Tech Venture Conference attracts a diverse group of attendees from around the nation, including entrepreneurs leading high-growth companies, investors, corporate leaders, nationally recognized industry leaders and tech enthusiasts.
“These two technologies licensed by Wake Forest Innovations are perfect representations of our mission to improve health through collaborative innovation,” said Jeff Brennan, vice president, technology innovation & commercialization at Wake Forest Innovations. “Showcasing these technologies at the CED Tech Venture Conference is a vital step in getting them closer to the market where they can ultimately improve patient outcomes.
